Nuggets for new Bloggers: Ready to learn more?

My Tips: In this post I will pay it forward to various resources!

I learned a lot from blogging through some friends a met on social media, various resources, as well as some self teaching.

Some nuggets I have learned:

By far, the best platform is WordPress.  Much easier to maneuver than blogspot.   For now I am using wordpress.com in few months moving all data over to the.org site. Better plugins and widgets!. Plugins/Widgets are tools used to extend the functionality of the WordPress platform. Example you can use a Facebook and Instagram plug in to add to your Blog.

When posting make sure to always tag and categorize your posts and have your blog hosted, so you attract more traffic.  I use godaddy.com, bluehost.com and hostgator.com.

Whats really amazing about WordPress is that it is very simple- stupid to maneuver and post.

What is a domain? Basically its your psychical address on the world wide web.

What is masking: Domain masking or URL masking is the act of hiding the actual domain name of a website from the URL field of a user’s web browser in favor of another name. There are many ways to do this, including the following examples. Example for my travel website- full URL is bucketlistjetsetter.dreamtripslife.com masked from http://www.bucketlistjetsetter.com.  When you mask- you also set a title and a description.

What is hosting? Hosting (also known as website hosting or Web hosting) is the business of housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or more websites. In a sense, you rent space on a computer to hold your website.
